pointers:
1. Your traffic MUST be TARGETED. If you are selling weight loss
products, 100,000 visitors from people looking for Social Networking
templates probably won't net you a single sale (I speak from experience).
Find out where your audience is currently hanging out at & figure out
a way to "divert" some of them to your site (and bank account!)
2. You must incorporate as many VIRAL elements as you can into your
marketing. These include affiliate programs, "tell a friend" scripts,
blogging contests, Social Media apps, widgets, or anything else
that's likely to get passed on by customers or visitors. Viral
marketing can expand your site's visitor count exponentially.
3. Get a mix of traffic: both paid & free. We all like free
traffic but using both free & paid sources gets you closer
to an ideal traffic mix. And too boot, search engines like
sites that are considered "active" there by helping you
rank higher even if you are paying for some of the traffic.
4. Network offline. Ever wonder how some of the BIG sites
get sooo much traffic? It's not because their content is
better than the 1,000 other sites in their market...Nope.
Often, it comes down to relationships. Late night "networking"
at industry events can create profitable relationships that
last a lifetime. That guy sitting across the table from you
might get a million visitors a month...and a single link
from his site can send you 100 people a day... Imagine the
traffic you could get from having 20 relationships with
site owners like that. Profitable indeed.
And this is just the tip of the iceberg!
